Word export: page break after first paragraph

Symptom:  After a Word export, a page break is placed on the first page

If your Word export skips to a new page in the middle of an outline, this is because of a feature in Word that attempts to keep paragraphs of different styles together. Typically the page break will occur after the text notes of the first topic.

To adjust this, Follow this procedure:

Word 2007:

1.  Open the Word document and use Ctrl-A to select all.

2.  On the Home menu - Paragraph, you can select the small icon on the lower left of the menu section and choose to show the Paragraph dialog box.

3.  On the Line and Page Breaks tab, choose the option to "Keep with next."

The document should adjust properly.

Word 2003:

1. Open the Word document and place the cursor on the text note paragraph preceding the page break.
2. Go to Format--Paragraph--Line and Page Breaks.
3. Check the option "keep with next."
4. Place the cursor on the title line and perform the same procedure in the format menu.

The page break should be eliminated and the outline should not skip to a new page.
